Sky Girls was focused around four girls between the ages 14-18 flying exoskeleton suits in a military like scenario against the alien enemy known as WORMS. Serious at times while dramatic or even comical at others, it's an excellent series that is a good alternative to the shonen oriented Gundam animes. Spans 24 episodes and the artwork is by Shimada Humikane which is a definite plus. It's a must-watch for anyone that loves cute girls and military action.Originally Posted by Crazy Asian

Strike Witches is a shorter, more comical take on the Mecha Musume franchise from Konami. It's an alternate reality set in WWII where the world is being attacked by an unknown enemy know as the Neuroi. The only defense? Magical girls (Aged 12-20) that attack in the sky when equipped with Strike Units, plane-like equipment that attaches to their legs. Also, pants are non-existent so their always in their panties. Artwork is also done by Shimada Humikane. Spanning only twelve episodes, it's easy to get through and is a lot of fun. Not quite on the robotic part of things, but a good comical blend of cute girls and military battles. I recommend using Strike Subs for quality releases. DVD releases are completely uncensored (boobs) and are being released soon after the DVD themselves are released in Japan.
