Epiphones are quite nice for the money - a lot of people are saying things like "Epiphone is the new Gibson" because Epis are consistently as good - or better - in quality than Gibsons, because Gibson's quality control has gone to shit, and Gibsons are too fucking expensive.
So go for the Epi.
