me- "I have a digital dash, you know those aren't too accurate"
him-"how fast do you think you were going?"
me- "i dont know, like 44? "
him- "let me run a check the calibration on the radar...let me get your ID, etc etc"
- he comes back with the citation.... yep the radar was right, its 54 over..

I have a perfect record... court day in february... i believe it was a lilburn city cop, but am not too sure.

Anyone have any tips? I'm thinkin to do nolo contendere. and just pay the fee.. Just wondering when you plead nolo, is it reported to the insurance agency?

Also, I'm really REALLY hoping the ticket is dropped haha (aren't we all)
i mean I was the only one on the road... wasnt crazy accelerating.. I think my BOV sounded RIGHT as i passed him on the shoulder and i was like DO'H

But..BUT BUT you have a perfect record which could reduce your speed so instead of 19 judge might go low as 14 or in any case he might throw it out and give you a warning.

plead nolo. I did that for my first ticket (worse than yours) and i got off with 24 hours community service and took a defensive drivking class and a fine. And i was 17 at the time.

nolo will go on ur record and show up on ur insurance.... the thing is it wont show up until u renew ur policy or make a claim because ur ins company wont run ur mvr until then...

lead not guilty and ask for a trial by jury. Thats always fun. I did that with a red light violation and the judge just looked at me. I could he was thinking 'Are you seriously asking for a jury trial over a red light violation?' But its within our rights to have a trial by jury so exercise those rights

By the way, my red light ticket was thrown out due to the officer not appearing not because the jury said I was innocent lol

save your nolo...since you have a perfect driving record, and I assume this is your first ticket, just go to court, and play it by ear...most courts in GA if its your first ticket ever, they will reduce it to 14 no points and a simple fine..and they dont report it to the DMV...

play it by ear, if the judge is a straight up asshole, just do the NOLO and accept what he gives you

Deffinately save the NOLO. It really only helps in situations that would normally take your license. Speak with the judge, he may reduce it considering your record.

Under 21 - 24 MPH or over is 4 pts.
Under 21 - 24 MPH and under is 3pts.

ANY ticket is reported to the DMV...My nolo that i was told WOULD
NOT was and my insurance is about $35 higher a month than it should be.

wow, that sucks. You guys have to go to court for speeding tickets in georgia????? Hell, I got one going 99 in a 70, well at least that's what he gave it to me for and I just paid mailed the fine into the state police detachment and went about my business getting other tickets

lol this is city court...the reason the dates are so far apart is bc that court day is only tickets given by him.... so lol best bet he'll be there

Honestly I wouldn’t use your Nolo on this ticket. An under 21 isn’t all that bad an wont really hurt your driving record or insurance payment. Usually the longer you go without an infraction they tend to be lenient with smaller tickets. Since this is your first ticket they are likely to drop it to 14 and you should make out with just a small fine/court fees. Also don’t bank on the officer not being there. GA state law does not require and officer to be present on all traffic violations. Ive had many a court appearance where the officer was not there and I still got owned. On a side note and in my experience (12 tickets to date never losing my license) if you have the money, get a lawyer. Usually for college students/ppl around that age group they work out some pretty decent prices. Most lawyers can get the charge of an under 21 completely dropped all together. Ive had 2 charges of too fast for conditions that were dropped when getting a lawyer, which otherwise would have ended up costing me more in court fee's and insurance premiums in the long run. Thats also not to mention the 5 other tickets that i should have definitely lost my license on. Goodluck!
