I really really really don't want to do that... it's our first "official" Christmas since we've gotten engaged, so both sides of the family want us there

I'm totally with you on that one. I'm an only child so I know my parents would all but demand I be there (thankfully they only live like 8 minutes away from Kyle's parents). Are they both at the same time? Spend an hour with one family a little earlier in the day and drive to the other's... Would that work?

Both start dinner at 6 and presents are at 8.... My mom is pitching a fit that I may not be there for dinner and my grandmother has already said she will be heartbroken... His grandparents are here from Florida and they haven't seen us or my ring sime we've gotten engaged, so they are really excited to toast us at dinner and do the whole gift thing. I am so torn.
