Pretty much, but when you're hungry, you'd be surprised at what tastes good. I still thought it tasted like ass, though, even though I'd been like 12 hours without food. That may not seem like alot...but your body burns SO many calories just keeping warm in the cold weather, and hiking up hills with 60lbs on your back.
