Default Thinking about grad school @ GT

At GA Tech for Computer Engineering because I want to get into game development later on after I get better financially established. Anyone here go to GT? Been kind of intimidated of going up for that because its supposed to be a good school and I'm sure they have high standards and lots of primadonna professors who want to work you like a dog and hassle you on small infractions to fail you. But idk.. Can it really be that bad? Anybody know anything about the school, etc?

I go to gatech, i'm only a first year but i can tell you that it's pretty damn tough. you don't learn anything in class, you basically need to be able to teach yourself everything from the textbook, which usually sucks at explaining it. if i were you, i would atleast apply, but good luck with what you choose, it most likely won't be easy.

Do you have trouble going to the professors if you need help? Ever run across any profs that were racist assholes?

I never had any racist assholes in my years at Tech. The professors may seem kind of aloof at times, but if you show them that you are actually trying to learn the material, they'll go out of their way to help you. You will probably get some professors that you can't understand very well, but that's just the luck of the draw, so talk to as many students as you can to avoid that.

And as a postscript, let me just say that being able to say that you went to Tech almost always elicits a good response from people. That name on your resume definitely carries a lot of weight. Now if we could just win a damn football game against those hooligans in Athens, I'd be ecstatic.

I go to Tech. In terms of difficulty, it can be a bitch, but homework is never excessive in my opinion. Tests are usually pretty hard, so you need to spend a lot of time studying. Everything else is okay for me, such as essays, labs, and homework.

I personally am going with Southern Poly - pretty much right behind tech ( #3 in the state ) and its more private atmosphere and more affordable
