lost title question

I'm going to tear my place apart to look for it again but

I lost the title to my car when I bought it - and I still havent registered it. And I bought the car in NC. Well, not sure lost it as more like I can't freaking find it. But - would there be any issue for applying for a lost title or anything like that ?

Not sure. However, I do know that you can apply for a bonded title. It costs between 80 and 100 bucks to be prepared and there are a few things you have to do in order to receive the "Bonded" title. A bonded title works as a regular title, it just lets the DMV know that you have the car in case someone else finds the title and decides to: steal it, or in case you stole it, etc etc. There are a couple of places that do it, Byrd Insurance are the people I use. Im sure there is another place closer to you. You can also ask your tag office where an agency is located locally that is capable of helping you get a bonded title. Hope it helps.

you dont have to tell them it was in a fire.. just tell them it was destroyed...
go to the police station, tell them you need to get a bonded title and you would like the paperwork for that, they will run a vin check(make sure its not stolen), and give you a paper that you bring to an insurance company the tag office will give you some more papers you gotta fill out and bring there too.. .. its 100 for the insurance company to do it, and 25 for the title... i just did it to a van, that i washed the title in the washing machine
