1. The bar will see that you are stupid enough to try to pay a $100 bill with a $ 50 card

2. If you opened a tab, the bar would already have tried and "hold" a certain amount, causing the card to decline

3. Even if they did not put a hold on your card, you would technically need to wait until the bartended completes the transaction so you can sign the receipt. Therefore the $50 charge would not go through if you try to charge it all on 4.49 of credit

4. Any amount greater than 4.49 that you will try to charge will usually result in a decline

5. Even if you are able to charge more than was on the card, you would STILL be responsible for the charge overage. Don't worry. Cingular/VISA has ALL of your information and will issue you a nice credit card with the balance /overage charge on it.
