are you sure it was food poisoning? it generally doesnt HURT like you were describing, you just throw up a whole lot...
and just FYI, when you go to the emergency room, if you arent able to pay the bill, you dont have to. you might wanna look into that. (my stepmom is a nurse and i am a nanny for 2 doctors)...
