I believed it, because it helped to explain why Alex was looking at me the way he was that night. I was thinking "ohhh so he's deaf...that makes sense".
But knowing him a little better now, I realize that it wasn't an "I cant hear you, so let me read your lips" look, it was a "wait so....who the hell are you again?" look.
