This is crazy. When someone mentioned his passing to me yesterday I couldn't believe it. We weren't close friends, but I have known him for almost a decade. He always offered to help me out when I needed it. This is just so unbelievable. RIP Sae. :(
i dont know what to say. i drive by that shop everyday and always see him running around working, or sliding some car through his parking lot.
damn,
R.I.P Sae
I did not know Sae personally but it's obvious he was cared for by many. I'm sorry for everyone's loss. RIP

Damn Man. John called me at about 10pm last night and informed me
i just bought an Rx7 from Sae, actually the motor and tranny are still at Finish Line.
Sae was a great guy, i went through him to get my clutch, and when i went to buy the Rx7, he was sooo full of life and just seemed happy, like always.
He will be missed, Rest In Peace Sae...

Sae was a good guy and he was always nice to me. R.I.P.:(
Im glad to read all the nice comments and memories of him. Im probably one of the people affected the most by this right now...
Ive been with Finishline 2 years now, and Sae is like an older brother to me. I will make a post when I can organize my thoughts more and gather up some photos and video.
Thank you everyone for the kind words.
Matt
man........too young.....
man......i've been numb until now...it just hit me hard. My heart goes out to his family, he will be remembered.
he will be missed, rest in peace, always such a nice guy.
i'm sorry, for all those that truly knew sae, or was blessed to recieve some of the kindness that plenty here have talked about him displaying. but for those that knew him well, please remember the times that you seen him smiling, and i'm sure that the times he spent smiling far outweight the sad times and loss that has been experienced with his passing. keep in mind, the one dream he wanted to achieve, he did. how many of us today can say that? we have lived our dream? he did......be proud of him.
RIP SAE.... met him once at the shop, knew "alot" about imports! only talked to him for about an hour and learned so so much.....i send out all my thoughts and prayers to his true friendz and family! RIP!!!
sae was a great guy he always help with parts when i needed he will be miss a lot R I P
dawg
Matt, I'm going through my hard drives looking for pics I might have snapped of Sae at the shop, with the countless times I brought my camera up there and was taking pictures of everybody I'm sure I'll find something decent.
Edit: I think I'm actually just going to compile a bunch of FinshLine related pics. You've gotta see this shit man, I have taken at-least like 100 pictures a month at FinishLine for the past 5 months...
I didn't know him, but I've heard of him several times.. I'm sorry for everyone's loss. RIP to a great guy.
That really sucks.
Found this pic earlier... This shot always reminds me of him, and just how passionate he was about his work. It's something all of us have seen Sae do... you know? When he'd just wander around the cars, and shop aimlessly, enjoying the enviroment.
yea, everytime i went up there he was always walking around a car.
Thats a damn good picture. +1Quote:

This is how I remember Sae. Messed up hair, scrambling to get the car ready for the next run, but still joking around :)

Sae Kang?! Holy crap. I knew him from way back. He was old school like some of us. We (east coast honda) later had meets at Tire Star when he was there. Always looked out for you, and kept us in the loop on what was happenin. I also spoke w/ him after Nopi, cool guy, WAY energetic and will be missed.
Prayers are w/ the family.

It was a rought weekend and I will totally miss this guy. What a cool funny guy. I met him drifting in Formula D 04'. He was so nice to me and we always had mutual respect for each other. I miss him already. We used to go out and party together and have so much fun. He was crazy. I went to several Formula D events with his team across the US. We are going to get his team to the last FD event in Irwindale this next week. He never missed an FD event and his friends are going to do every thing they can to get him out there in his honor. I wish I could have seen him get married and have kids. I really looked forward to knowing him for a long time.
A good friend who will miss him forever,
Joe Vick
All,
I've written a memoriam for Sae which will be printed in DialD magazine and possibly several other publications.
However, I am in dire need of some high-quality pictures of him. I've only been able to pull down one low-res shot of him from his MySpace page.
If any of you have any GOOD "normal" (not party, although that's hard to come by with Sae, party animal!) shots of him, please email them directly to [email protected]
Here is the memoriam that will be printed:

Sae Koo Kang (1974 – 2006)
Sae Koo Kang passed in his sleep on Friday September 29th, 2006, from an apparent, sudden, and unexplained heart attack. Survived by his parents and his sister, losing a dear friend at the very young age of 32 we question why some go so early and others stay for so long.
I probably did not know Sae as well as some, only having met him in the fall of 2004 at the D1 tryouts at Homestead Miami Speedway. However, Sae was the type of person whom you felt that you have known forever from the moment that you met him. While he was only a few things to me during my relationship with him, as a friend and team driver for Finishline Motorsports, Sae was everything to everyone – a brother, a son, a racer, a ricer, a drifter, a shop owner, a team manager, a cousin, a confidant, a friend, a business partner, and, most importantly, an honorable human being.
Sae Koo Kang was a superhero among men. A pastor at Sae’s funeral service commented on how much Sae had lived in only 32 years – if you could hear the laughter that arose in the funeral parlor amongst friends. If there was one thing that Sae did best in life, it was living. Sae lived more in one day than many of us live in one week. And, no matter how much Sae promised he would do, or how much Sae took on, somehow, in the very end, what really mattered got accomplished.
There are so many good qualities that I could pen, but I think that the most important is that Sae Koo Kang was a genuinely good person. If you had met him just now, or had known him forever, you knew that he would do everything he could to treat you right.
Sae was never sad, never mad, and always had a strange grin on his face as if to say, “Just watch this.” And you know what? You did. You watched Sae live for everyone else first, watched him do all he could to give everyone a chance, watched him make the impossible possible, and watched him make the improbable come true.

Sae will be sorely missed by all who knew him or were touched by him in their lives. At the wishes of Sae’s parents, Finishline Motorsports will remain open and the racing team will continue its endeavors so that Sae’s dream may continue on through his associates, friends and family. In order to assist with these matters, an account has been set up to accept donations for the daily operations of the shop and the transportation and maintenance of the racing team. For those interested in contributing to the cause, please contact [email protected]
Despite our differences, Sae was someone I trusted and someone who was a good friend to me. He may have not been able to deliver me the world as he promised, but he always tried to make everyone happy. I think he did a good job.
RIP man
