Public Enemy's stuff was highly influenced my the Islamic faith that is partially why they were so controversial..Man come on now...U gotta know where u came from before u can know where u going...Afrika Bumbatta (sp?) also Muslim..THe Breakin' movement was highly influenced by him..He got a lot of kids off the street by helping to create a scene where kids could battle it out on the sidewalk without knives and ish..help to create a bond amongst blacks in Puerto Ricans in NY...

Yeah but when PE was out, I was still in Compton listening to who knows what. I dont even remember. My hip hop knowledge doesnt go back that far, first rap album I ever heard in its entirety and bought was The Chronic. Then Digable Planets, but thats more hip hop than rap.
