are you kidding? you must be. i think a standard c6 vette will walk a slightly modded skyline. Lord knows the z06 will. Even through the turns. (Nurburgring has proved this).

Ok what I was trying to say is if you take a Vette that runs 8 second quarters and an r34gtr that runs 8 second quarters the skyline with have one hell of alot more money in it, and if you put them both on a road course the skyline would beat the vette.

But yes stock a z06 would murder a stock r34gtr in any type of asphalt race, probably even in wet conditions given they both had rain slicks.

If I had a hundred thousand to spend on a car I would go straight to my local chevorlet dealership and buy a C6 Z06. And use the extra 30 thousand to supercharge it. Oh and a 1000 hp vette or especially viper will last one hell of alot longer than a skyline with quad digit hp.

As far as performance goes the only thing that could beat it for the price is a lingenfelter or Hennessee viper, those vipers will do mid 8 second quarters on slicks,and cost $150,000 but unlike the skyline, they cant put 1000 hp down in a turn.

Even though GT-rs are "teh h0tness" ... they aren't godly beast machines stock contrary to belief.... lotsa stock cars can own them... in the same price range (by price range i mean cost to you including shipping/legalizing/markup/etc)
Sure the 26's have potential... but so does a 2JZ... or what happened to building a big boosted v8 for cheaper than both..... ...

skylines are like civics in japan. so people who have civics drool over skylines here.I think its cool car factor most of the times.For me "sex on wheels" is a Pagani Zonda F roadster.

I like them because they symbolize what we want but never could have for quite some time. Now granted, the skyline stock looks like an EVO compared to the Supra or NSX, they can look beautiful when you work em right. Then there's the power...oh god the only two reasons I want a GTR is because of the JDM TyTe RHD goodness and the engine. And then there's the Z-tune...I just wet my pants thinking about it. It rivalled the Caterham in being banned because it was "too fast to race". I've always been a "substance over style" type person, so the things like those Astons or Porsches (save the turbo S or GT3/GT2) never really did it for me, cause they were luxurious over powerful. Now luxury isn't all that bad, but in order to go as fast as the GTR, the Aston needs a thirsty V8, and if the Skyline is tuned, then it needs the V12.

Its a good-looking car with performance to back it up and a impressive racing heritage. My boy has a 1050whp GT-R R33 and everybody gets to GT-R humping when he rolls up. People see 37 Corvettes, 76 Camaros and around 125 Mustangs every time they get on the road. If American muscle cars were rare they'd be oggled too. We see Supras, NSX's, RX-7's and shit tons of WRX's and Evo's but most people have never seen a GT-R and most will never drive one. Point case, oggling is inevitable.

Have you ever seen the GT500 LED tail lights's that you can get for the R34's... Those are bad ass at night. Everybody gets rubberneck when an R34 with those things drives up.

I like them but I'm not super enamored with them.

Its a japanese mustang, and Supras are japanese Camaros. There are so many different trim levels of them its not even funny. I'm pretty sure there are 4 cylinder Skylines over in Japan.

GT-Rs are the equivalent of an SVT Cobra, SS Camaro, M3, or Z06 Vette in my mind. Its the top of the line model of a rather ordinary lineup of cars.

Don't worry, that one will be back on the road soon enough. I know the guy who bought it after it was flipepd. He's fixing it. And btw, the front bumper, lip, head lights and fenders from that car are on mine now They were prety messed up up when I first got them but all fixered now.

I don't marvel over it because it's a 'Skyline' anymore, after tinkering with it, modding it slightly I'm starting to marvel over it because of the potential it has. I was originally building this car to be a trailer queen. But after playing around with it, I wouldn't be surprised to see it in a few scca events in the near future

Z06 and GTR are speed 2 diff ways. The new Z06 weighs around 3100 lbs and is pushrod power, a huge 7 liter V-8 and RWD.
GTR is what a 2.6 I-6 tt. 3700lbs. AWD and every tech imaginable.

Because it's not sold here so it gets seriously overhyped. It's a great car but it has too much BS surrounding it in the states.
