    Default note to self: DO NOT send my kids to any one of these schools.

    To students at Eagleswood Elementary School, she used to be Mr. McBeth. Now, after undergoing a sex change, 71-year-old Lily McBeth is ready to return to teaching as Miss McBeth. Despite criticism from parents, the school board on Monday stood by its decision to allow McBeth to resume working as a substitute teacher.

    After two hours of public debate and a private meeting with McBeth and her lawyer, the board took no action on calls by several parents to bar McBeth from returning to the school where she taught for five years before becoming a woman.

    "It was magnificent," McBeth said afterward. "You saw democracy in action."

    McBeth, a retired sales executive who was married for 33 years and had three children, underwent gender reassignment surgery last year and re-applied for her job under her new name.

    McBeth on Monday told the school board and the crowd that she loves teaching and children, and looks forward to returning to the classroom.
    I don't have a problem with transsexuals (what they want to do with their bodies is fine by me, I guess) but I'm pretty sure I'd draw the line at having one teach my child.
    I mean, if a person can't figure out what gender they are I'm not real keen on them being responsible for my kid's education.

    a persons personal designs like that have nothing to do with their ability to teach/do their job. unless they start talking about how its a great idea and everybody should do it...but the same goes for everything else like religion/politics etc. in schools. my

    while i completely agree with this, one should realize that no student is going to give this teacher any respect and she will be ridiculed mericlessly.

    Good for him/her for doing what they did... but in all actuality i dont think going back to work in the same field was a smart long time move

    but they are still KIDS. 5th grade kids still dont know where babies come from or wat sex is really, they wont understand shit unless their parents tell them... at most they'd be in high school and say 'hey remember ms. mcbeth? yea remember how she looked like a guy... hahaha" and that'll be it. my

    What if dude looked more feminine and passed for a real woman? Would you still have problems with her teaching your kids then? There are worse reasons not to send your kids to certain schools then this IMO. Also this person is a substite teacher so its not like they'ed be really making an impact on the childs mind over a long period of time. Its like 1sick6 says they'd probably remember that one substitute teacher that looked like a dood for some reason...
