    Good information everyone , I'm looking at a Diesel for 3 major reasons, fuel economy, towing capacity, engine durability. But at the same time.. Damn a gas burner is so much cheaper.. initally..

    Well for those reasons id differently spend the extra 3k for a diesel.

    97 Jeep Cherokee (Inline 6cyl 4.0L). I get 20MPG with a even mix of city/hwy. If its all hwy, I can get about 25mpg.

    If it were only 3k that would be a no brainer, the cost on a new(ish) truck is more like 8k difference.
