Default What's the worst accident you've been in? Well here's mine..

Lastnight, I was in the Peachtree RD/ Collier Rd. area. I was heading up to Felini's after the fireworks show at Centennial Olympic Park.

I was going about 40mph or so when taking a left turn onto Collier Rd when, I lost control of my hatch and I understeered the car. I swerved at missed about 8 cars and then fishtailed and ran over the curb. Luckily I wasn't hurt nor my girlfriend. Luckily I didn't hit anyone else nor did I hit a telephone pole.

The damaged didn't look so bad, just the whole passenger side of my car was messed up, a front fender and both my wheels were TORN and ripped apart. I thought the damage would have been more devastating, but it wasn't. The rear wheel was tucked and bent. I was thinking that maybe it was drivable but it wasn't. The hub was badly bent.

In this time frame, APD passed by, the same officer 2x. Didn't say anything. EMT's passed by, didn't say shit. I crashed in a residential area near Piedmont Hospital, no one was around. Bystanders didn't say shit and just a shitload of people RUBBERNECKING. WTF has this world come to and not help?

I called a few towing places, which were charging RIDICULOUS prices to be towed from ATL to Tara BLVD. Like $50 to $95 hook up fees up front and then a 10% surcharge. Luckily I got in contact with a towing company off of OLD DIXIE, Sosebee's, they charged a flat fee of $85 and was there in less than 30 minutes.

I dropped my car off at A/H specialists, where Tom is a good buddy of mine.

Upon my arrival today, I talked to Tom, nothing really was said, due to the fact that the mechanics were busy and they wouldn't be able to look at the car today, or fix anything.

I just got a call, MY REAR SUBFRAME IS TORN the only thing I can think of was my rear subframe caught the curb which helped my car stop from hitting anything. My car is under LIABILITY. So I know insurance won't pick up the tab. Thats the MAJOR extent of the damage. Excluding that I will need a rear trailing arm, rear lca, upper lca, and some other parts I can't think of.

I just can't believe that I've been driving for 8 years and now my first accident. I'm about to graduate from college and this makes everything so much harder.

anywho, does anybody know or do REAR SUBFRAME welding and what not? and how much am I looking at? I know insurance isn't going to cover it, b/c its on liability and the damage will most likely exceed my 1993 civics value.

anywho, here's the pics.. doesn't look bad, but IT IS..

engine mods? mk4 twins can get waaaay quicker than 13 seconds without modding the motor itself, if thats what you mean. I have a friend with an auto as well his name is Joe, 600hp and its blue w/o spoiler... single turbo tho

Damn, I feel for ya (like I said in the pm). When it seems like everything is going in a positive way for ya, shit happens. I been there. Back in high school, I used to street race. So one day I was racing and my front tire blew out. I flipped my car 3 times and hit a wall doing 100+ (just ask b16a6). It changed my whole view of life after that and made me value life more than material things. It could have been alot worst! Just use this as a learning experience. You'll have better days in the future.

Was cruising down Canton Hwy when a Chevy Suburban pulled out infront of me. I slammed the brakes but it was too late. 45mph into the side of this f*cking mobile-home of an SUV. Funny thing it, this kid was pulling out of the DMV having just got his license. Yeah, the cop took that sh*t away right there.

damn, ahmonrah and the ren, those are some nasy one. Glad that you guys are okay and still with us.

Mine was two bad ones, don't have pics anymore but
    1. I got rear ended when I sat still at the red light, the fucka was driving at 60mph+ (on hwy85 - riverdale)
    2. Got clipped in the front by dumb idiots who tried to race each other and passed me on a ONE Lane exit from I75N to I285 East (exit 238 or something) and spun couple 360s, hit a parked fullsize van, and flew on top of the bush. Luckily I didn't get wrapped around the trees that's like 3 feet away.

long term injuries: all i got was glass stuck everwhere, i mean everywhere, nightmares, insomnia(can't sleep past the time of the accident:weird!!), burns that healed superfast.
the short term/ immediate but most crippling things: insomnia (tasuki can verify this), bruises on front and rear lobes of brain, right hemisphere which resulted in fucked short term memory(for a while i would start a convo, forget i started it and start it again, folks got annoyed with that, but i didnt know i already started the convo!) vision center was bruised i.e. poor depth perception and couldnt track moving objects (if someone threw something for me to catch and i'm looking at their hand, all i'd see was an open palm, then i'd get hit with something.) slurred speech and motor functions compromised.
that all healed up in time.

I have both rear trailing arms, and rear upper control arms if you want them for cheap let me know. As far as the subframe, the welds need to be cut, and a new one welded on. OPM can do it for you.

My worst accident was when I rolled my 92 interceptor on I-75. for rolling, it really didn't do much damage at all, luckily i hit the one open spot in the area, 100ft forward and there was an overpass, 50ft before and i would of been in the trees. damn i miss that car.

Mine hurt like fucking hell. Trip to the hospital, xrays, crutches, couldn't put on shoes for weeks, my legs were purple, had to wrap my right foot in a bandage every single night for six months so I couldn't bend it in my sleep. Still can't wear flat shoes 3 years later.

Nose was scraped, seatbelt mark clear across my chest, didn't even know my own name for hours.

Glad to see everyone was alright.

I've been i quite a few (my sn's not stupidbikerboy on some of the bike forums for nuthin), but the worst would be one of these 2.

On my 16th birthday we hit a truck head on doing about 65, he was also doing about 65. Hardest impact I have ever felt. Almost killed my father and my best friend, both had to learn how to walk again. I came out with a burn gash across my chest from the seat belt and internal bruising. I was in the passenger seat, was very lucky.

    Or

A few years back I was in Panama city beach for spring break and an old lady pulled in front of me on my bike doing about 70 mph. Me and bike went over the car and stopped almost 150 ft. away. I had on a helmet, but no jacket. took both forearms to the bone with road rash, and dislocated my shoulder tearing some of my tendons. The lady that pulled in front of me thought I had passed away, as did the towing service and the insurance company. I actually had to argue with the towing company about me not dying.

    I'll never forget it, lol

It was the day after the accident. I showed up at the towing company with my friends with my arms wrapped and one in a sling. I told them I'm here to pick up my bike. The guy asked me the color so I said it was green and purple. He just looked at me funny and said, "You mean yellow?" I said "no!, Green and purple." He said "the only bike we have that color was involved in a fatality." I was like, no, dude, I was released last night from the hospital and I'd like to get my bike so we can head home. He asked me one more time if it was yellow. I was like WTF?? NO!! I had to give him 2 forms of ID to prove it. He kept on about how lucky I was from looking at the bike.

When he lead us back to the bike I saw the yellow bike he thought was mine. It was a Ducati 996. My friends were all fussing at me saying I should have STFU and took the ducati instead of my crappy YZF.

    Ducati FTW!

So.... where in the hail was your bike in this whole process?

Going about 65ish on East Cherokee road. Hit some gravel, me and my friend (He was driving) in his FC were thrown into a ditch. Flipped the car about 3-4 times. Mountain Runs are dangerous. Heard a rumor it was some guy throwing stuff on the road. The car wasn't even mine and I miss it. Got out of that with a broken arm, twisted ankle and a headache you can't imagine. friend got both arms broken and broke his left leg. After the crash I had to help him out of the flipped car with one arm.

All because of some idiot in an explorer that was to busy talking on his cell phone instead of paying attention to the road, he ran a red left turn arrow right into me. I broke my wrist, and had some burns from the airbag.
