WHAT SHOULD WE DO W/ THE NOOBS?

I'M THINKING POSSIBLY OF ONLY ALLOWING NOOBS TO POST IN CERTAIN FORUMS... THIS IS B/C LATELY WE ARE GETTING SPAMMED W/ ALOT OF IDIOTS TRYING TO SELL CELL PHONES AND SHIT.

ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS?

I think they should be not allowed in the forums that will peak thier interest to spam the site. They do it in the same 3-5 sections everytime. So keep them from the FS forums, Tech, Shopping, Music, etc forums like that untill they hit like 25 posts.

allow the to post only in the clock in section for the first 72 hours. and they must be repped by an admin/mod before posting in any other thread....just a thought

hmm thats a difficult ? because ppl that hear about the site and actually know ppl on here might shy away if they get on and cant do anything..then thats alot of new members being lost ..

the for sale forums is great, but maybe they can only post in areas where their is high mod traffic = wl... hmm good though, but difficult to decide.

i think that if we give them a pop up once they log into the forums the first time( that they have to click on something to verify they read it) or a system generated pm from you saying if you try to do this or that on here, you will be banned, this is your warning

Yeah I think 25 is way to low to allow people in the FS area, I think 100 is to high though. 50 is a good number before they have access to certain forums.

something like a electronic signature...tell them to read the PM (or whatever) and ''electronically sign'' their names....

signing a name doesnt stop them from spamming the site right when they join. Keeping people to a certain type of forum till they have certain amount of posts will reduce the spam.

i say for first 20 posts, only allowed in general forums, wl and general tech..

those are the main reasons to get on a site (talk bs =wl..talk cars=general tech..intro=general forums)

Not allowed to post in the flea market , Off Topic (except Whoreslounge and Girl Forum if they are female) till they reach 20 posts.

Let them post in the General Section, Car Make and Car Club sections and Whoreslounge.

You can set up guidelines and whatnot. Perhaps you cannot be approved for posting in other forums til you reach a certain number or until a certain time passes with a certain number of posts. You get the idea.

If you want some ideas, I would suggest looking at OT.com. We had to implement that type of setup over there. We can talk about it offsite or in private if you would like. Yes, it DOES help kill the trolls and spammers as it isn't worth their time to sit and become initiated just to spam.
