i was sorta forced to go on my own...my parents moved to pennsylvania and unless i wanted to freeze my nuts off i had to learn to make it on my own...they've been there 2 years and ive been fine....not as hard as ppl make it out to be, just gotta be money smart!

Think of it this way: if you can put "you are" in there, then the proper word is "you're". If it "belongs" to you, then the proper word is "your".

At almost 20 years old, it's about time to move out. How do you bring girls over to your pad? I mean, ugg.... I couldn't even imagine.Originally Posted by Crazy Asian

Along the lines of what others have told you: Get out, find your own way, and make your own life. It's the only real way that you'll appreciate all that you have accomplished. You'll reflect back and think about how you did it all on your own.Originally Posted by PSINXS
Sure, it is nice to have the help of parents, but there comes a time when you have to leave the nest; when you have to be a man.
Good luck! Keep pushing through, no matter how hard.

what ever makes you happy go with it man, I've been out on my own for about 3 years now and its not all that great to have to pay for everything but you do get the satisfactory of knowing you did it on your own. I would love to go back home and live rent free but its not something I can do.
Great advice. My parents are helping me out a lot by paying my rent as long as I'm in college. I've actually gotten a lot closer with them since I quit seeing them on a daily basis.Originally Posted by Ruiner
Brandon, have you told them how much it seems like they are just pushing you away with their comments? It sounds like they're just having problems with you being on your own, they probably just want what is best for you and are going about the situation the wrong way.

no i havent told them how their comments make me feel. i should though. I wouldnt trade living on my own for anything right now. But they really do push me away and make me not want to return even more.
I read this and thought that you were talking to me... Damn, there are too many Brandon's on this board.Originally Posted by GTScoob

let's see. my life in a nut shell.....6 days after graduatin HS i was a serviceman.
i was 17.
fast forward 11 years to now, i've rented 5-6 different apartments, owned a house and after a nerly dying i'm at my folks for the first time. hate it but they are supportive and cool cause they know i'm not gonna be there too much longer. now i'm jumping out again with no intentions of going back. once was enough. i'm busy as hell right now so i'm hardly there. congrats on the move dawg.
i've seen life at all standpoints, including the end of life, but it's made me stronger. enjoy your new accomplishment, there are many more on the way, and some will hurt before you get them but it makes getting them worth it.
Oh my god. My dad blamed me losing my phone on moving out and not being ajehovah witness. WTF!!! i asked if i lost it at work is work bad and it made me lose my phone? no answer lol thats fuckin retarded. if you lived at home maybe you wouldnt have lost it. u hang with a lot of people and go out a lot so you are irresponsible. I'd die before i come back here.
My situation is the opposite, I actually take care of one of my parents and they still work my nerves.. depending on your relationship with your parents after a certain age you should only deal with them on a certain level, and living with them is not one of those levels.
I moved out when i was 18, 60 miles from home and never looked back. Ive since moved back closer to my mom.. but ill never move back in with the 'rents unless for some reason i quit my job and go back to college and cant afford to live away.
