I won a prize from Formula D. Need input.

So I got a call saying that I won a prize from one of the many forms I filled out at Formula D. Apparently I won 4 airline tickets to damn near anywhere I want to go. I can use the tickets in any fashion and at anytime within the next two years after the claim date. However, as with anything, there is a hitch.

To claim my prize, I have to attend a 30min seminar in Dunwoody about some hotel group and the services they offer. I'm told that I'm under no obligation to sign up for anything there or to even go to their hotels. So it seems like I would go there, sit on my ass for half an hour, claim my tickets and leave.

Think I should do it? What kind of scams should I be looking out for? If this is legit, it's a damned good way for me to cut down on the cost of my Japan trip next year.

That's what I was thinking too, but they said that I don't have to sign up for anything like that. I'm just trying not to get my hopes up.

They want you to buy into some discount hotel rate program thats X$ amount a month, but when you signup your probably commited for x yrs.

It will be a high pressure sales pitch. Just tell them you credit score is 500, and you just want the airline tickets.

They'll probably talk your ear off and try really hard to make a sale but they can't make you do anything. Just be smart about it.

Just got a call and no timeshare purchase or anything is required. They just want word-of-mouth if anything. Going to the presentation on Sunday.
