I have to ask...After going to the Varsity tonight and watching all of the "awesome" burn outs...Some in which the car was being "held down" by others...I am not quite sure I qualify...Now before the bashing begins...Yes I have a vagina, no I have yet to "work" on my car....Yes I am in the process of learning how to drive stick, no I dont claim to be a fast learner and as of yet the e-brake on hills is my bestfriend...

Now that being said...I stood at the Varsity and watched what I swear was a recreation of a F2F movie scene...Now mind u I have been to the Varsity before and I have enjoyed it and met really cool people...So please someone answer me this....

What makes an enthusiast?? Does it just have to be "liking" cars? Working on them? Watching burn outs in a parking lot....Some in which cars had to be on hills to make sure that they didnt go anywhere???

There are many different types of enthusiasts... I don't think you even really have to own an import car or something similar to be an enthusiast. I would say knowledge is the basis but the more knowledge and the more experience the more of an enthusiast you are. If you have love for the import scene that is just the beginning.

As far as all of the fuckheads doing burnouts, thats just childish... We are lucky to have that place where we can meet and not get bothered by cops much at all. These kids are just messing all that up for those of us REAL enthusiasts who don't need to show off to get something out of a gathering...

there's a difference between enthusiasts and ricers... enthusiasts are people who really care about their cars, and if it takes modifying them to make them enjoy the car more, then the modifications are made. To me, a true enthusiast can be anyone from some no name guy on the street with a civic that's bone stock, but he knows his stuff about, on up to someone like Tracy with her super modded evo. Whatever it takes to get the fullest amount of pleasure and satisfaction out of the car.

Ricers, on the other hand, are posers. They only got into the import scene because they saw the fast and the furious and realized that they owned a honda... they only do mods that are "tiiiiiiiiiight" and don't really know anything about the car, like the eclipse I was behind the other day with Nos stickers, altezza tails, a mile high wing, and a HELL of an oil leak. To me, had he been an enthusiast, he would have cared enough about the car to spend $250 on getting the oil problem fixed instead of blowing it at Pep Boys. Ricers are only around because they wanna show off and get attention. Enthusiasts know their shit and love their cars.
