is that a desktop case?
oh yeah, dude you happen to have any more heatsinks i can buy off of ya... and some sensui thermal tape as well if u got it
also i got a question... the reason my shit is overheating (which i conveniently ddnt mention) is a long story
well my dumbass is lazy... ok so i took the card out (back when the card retailed for like 299$... years ago.. and i didnt really game much and it was a bitch to install in my old setup, and the fuckin ATI catalyst drivers would cause mad problems on my old rig.
So it was just sitting outside the PC on my windowsil for at least 6 months LOL (yeah im lazy) i'm sure it got static shocked the fuck up etc..
ok so i got a new setup, dropped the card in... everythign was perfect... fuckin doom 3 on high settings... very little lag... (somehow)
ok weeks later i got half life 2... shit was badass... almost full settings, like 30-50fps (which wasn't bad for me)
so then I want to upgrade my 2 unmatched 512mb ram sticks to some PC3200 (which was the shit at the time) Dual channel low latency PQI Extreme matched pair right.
so i gotta take the video card out to fuckin reach the dimms with my big ass hands...
so i do that... then i try to put the radeon9800 in...but the fuckin wires kept gettin in the way and as i mentioned, i'm lazy... so i just popped in a radeon 9200se
the 9800 was out... etc blah blah... the stock cooling fan broke off LOL (well actually the clip that holds it to the board)
so i buy a cheapo BFG cooling fan from best buy... pop it on... and this shit doesnt cool at all LOL... it might as well be a passive fan... i play HL 2 for a second and i get a GPU not responding warning... etc... haha i touch the heatsink on it and its SCOLDING hot.
yeah... so i turn the settings down allt he way and leave the case open with a fan behind me (sometimes i just get that itch where i gotta play no matter what)
so i pop the 9200se back in again... and have it like that until about 2 hours ago, when i found that BF2 doesnt support hte 9200se... so i popped in the ghettofabbed 9800pro and shazaam it keeps overheating (superhot to touch too)
so in essence i want to change the GPU fan to the one i just bought ^^ posted above, the coolermaster...
but i got the sensui thermal tape connecting the fan to the GPU... and shits stuck pretty hard too... now how can i get it off? I'm thinkin to unscrew the sides (yeah i used screws b/c the fastening things broke, as mentioned LOL... its ghetto rigged, ima take a picture some day)
so should i just leave teh BFG fan on (its aluminum by the way, thick metal as well) and drop the Coolermaster fan on top?
i trust ur judgement mr. interlude
what should i do?!!??!
