If i were you i would look into the 3SGE (N/A version) the later versions 3-4 made amazing power and can be taken into the 200+whp range with bolt ons and some tuning!!!the gen 4 BEAMS(Breakthrough Engine with Advanced Mechanism System) version made 200@7100rpm(8300 rpm redline) to the crank stock NA!!!!!they rev very high and actually make some tq lol. this would be alot cheaper and give you more than enough power to rip it up on the street/track.they make amazing track motors, its also what im planning to do to my MKI MR2! IMHO the GTE would be too much for a FWD car...wheel spin would own you!

If i wanted to spend 5k on a motor, i'd sell the corolla, pick up a cheap project, then go for speed., or just save up some more and keep this as a DAILY and have another not so daily (what i did)
