Good question. I think the WTC burnt for so much longer because the fire department couldn't actually get to the fire until the buildings came down. Even then, the fire was burning underneath all of the rubble. The "loose change" video talks about how hot jet fuel burns and say it couldn't have gotten hot enough to melt the gold and stuff found at the bottom of the WTC. If you think about it though, everything falling on top of the fire insulated it almost like a giant oven. It's kind of hard to know exactly how hot it really got. The same can't be said of the Pentagon crash. The bulk of the explosion took place outside the building. The fire wasn't 60+ floors up either so the firemen could actually combat it when they reached the scene.Originally Posted by simontibbett
