    so yea, im selling my car as we all know.. so i have it listed on craigslist.. well i get an email today from "becky" wanting to purchase my car.. this is the email i got.. UN-EDITED!!!

    your terms for payments, i am living around the city, my name is Rebecca, i really need to have a
    car to buy for my 21st year old son, graduating this year, i am a very busy woman i am a contract
    Manager, I do work as a contract staff for ChevronTexaco, Exxon e.t.c to let you know how busy i am ok. I will
    like you to let me know if your ride is still readily available, give me ur terms of payments but
    I have to be very sincere with you the most convinient way for me to pay is through check, if you
    could just undestand my plight and won't mind a check, then send me the name and address of the
    person who will collect the check. Thanks, looking forward to buying your ride thanks.

    she types like a foreigner... a whole lot like the ones that write bad checks and disappear with your car.

    oh and i wouldn't use paypal. cash or certified funds only.

    I would be very cautious of Paypalling funds. I got scammed in a similiar situation as this and Paypal ripped the funds right out of my bank account without telling me.

    Send a message back, and say...

    "Bitch, I'm just trying to sell my car, I didn't ask for your life's story"

    I accept, CASH, CASH, CASH, oh yeah...and Certified Check.

    Seriously though...you shouldnt use paypal...for such large transaction...they will hit the buyer and you for a fee.

    It actually looks like something translated into English......just some of the words she said could make sense if another was used....

    I babelfished it....makes more sense when translated back into spanish...

    exactly.. and i have seen it before.. before we got our pup i had searched puppyfind.com and found a cairn terrier that i really wanted. so i had emailed the "owner" of the pup.. she wrote back (in the same broken english) that was was in nigiera on a church mission to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina (which happened in the US mind you) she said i could western union her the money for the pup and she would ship her to me.. so i figured it was a scam but just pursed it for entertainment.. told her to send me pics.. she sent the same generic pics over and over.. it was so lame.. and it shamed me to see someone would use a church as their cover.. karma is a bitch..

    When selling a car only take cash, or meet the person at THEIR bank, and WATCH them get a certified cashiers check in person. Thats the only way to be safe.

    beware of any kinds of checks these days too. even cashier's checks can be faked. if they want to use a cashier's check meet them at the bank and make the teller verify everything (check is real mainly) before moving on. cashier's checks are good because you have to BUY them at the bank, it's not a voucher saying the funds are available like a regular personal check. so as long as the check is real (verified by the bank) then you're in buisiness.
