That show is awesomw. You gotta be nuts to do that....Lets review...
Go to Alaska in October, Head to Bearing Straight. Work 80 straight hours (the entire crab catchin season) releasing and reeling 200+ 800lb crab traps...On a boat covered in ice on 20 ft ocean swells, and stand on the side so you can get dragged in. Realize that 70% of the catch value goes to the boat owner, who is at home, the captain gets the next 20%, and three to five guys that are IN the elements divide the rest.
Nope, I'm buyin my seafood from someone , NOT catchin it.

Very true. One of the only things that truly scare me is being lost in the ocean. Ironic how a show like that would interest me, but it does. I Tivo'd it and watched most of the shows last night. What's cool is how the captains of the boats navigate. Those guys really have to know their stuff. I'd be a basket case myself. I get cranky when there's too many people out on Lake Lanier myself.....can't hang with freaking 20 ft seas of freezing water.....

Does make me appreciate the all you can eat crab legs night a little more....

Very dangerous indeed, but the catchers get like 3,000$ in 3 days. You just have to have the balls and integrity to go do it.

actually they can make up to like 50k each on the larger ships... 75% goes to owner/captain... i love this show started watching it about 6-8 months ago when they ran the pilot show to see how'd it do, watch that shit every tuesday now, its the best reality show yet, real people, real life, - the gay bon jovi song in the credits and it would be the even better

you gotta think about the owners getting 70-75% is the fact that they also have to pay expenses involved aka. the boat payments (if they have them), all expenses for the crew's food, fuel for the ship, replacing broken equipment, etc. but they still make a boatload of money in the end (no pun intended)
