True you can subframe it but it is the whole rear section is what becomes the weak link. To hit the back high or do a respectable three wheel you can't have something with a lot of torque, It will cause that rearend to "wrap" itself up and begin breaking things that will ruin the car. We thought that as well on a '63, Hit three wheel and gave it some gas going through downtown and the left rear broke causing the car to slam back down.
