    Default RIP Talon

this afternoon/evening my engine decided to catch on fire. it's pretty much fucked, maybe a few random parts are salvagable.

what happened was i was riding down the road, hear a loud bang and i see huge flames coming out of my exhaust. so i pulled over, just to notice lots of smoke coming out from my engine bay. fire truck came and put it out, engine is fried...i have a shitty pic here:

and here are some pics i took while watching my shit on fire:

^^ u can actually see the fire truck

anyways, my back bumper is trashed, exhaust im assuming is trashed. interior/gauges are perfectly fine/dry. some of the parts in the engine are fine, the bov is fine, i BELIEVE the fmic is fine, but i havent gotten it up on a jack yet because it was dark and i was/am not in the mood to look at it.

the car is a 97 eagle talon tsi awd with alot of mods on it, if anyone needs some parts let me know. the rims are perfectly fine(17" enkei 5 spoke) with 4 BRAND NEW TIRES, about a month old. appreciate you NOT FLAMING ME. thanks.

oh and grant, sorry i ruined your project.

hey devin though, on the real though, i need to buy your wideband, and boost and egt guage from you. i need it for the FD

    insurance will cover it
as long as you have colateral on your shit, insurance covers fires. you will get KBB plus the additional parts up to 2 or 3 grand, whatever your insurance cap is without paying extra

too bad i have liability only. already called geico. what happened? well an hour or so before i put on my maf translator, and everything seemed to be...well...perfect? i was done testing it out, within a mile from my house and BAM. the way everything burned, i think it's some type of electrical failure. and insurance wont give me shit. the wideband and the gauges, sure thing. how do i go about taking out the o2 wideband from the inside, and do you want the gauge?

yeah i need the whole thing, with the guage on that unit trace hte wires from teh box behind your radio, i can walk you through removing it and stuff

But disconnect the plugs from the box, and under the car is the wideband o2 sensor, remove that, and then the guage. Its real easy you can do it....and hte egt is just hte prove on teh manifold, and then the wireing all teh way back to the guage. call brent he will help you, and prolly buy almost eveyrthign from you left over as well

if need be ill pay you for em let me know

ill let you know i dont see why id price gouge the person who spent hours upon hours for free for me and to the person who pm'd me and everyone else. YES I WILL PART ANYTHING OUT i dunno about a few grand, but im thinking somewhere in the 1000-2000 range. if the FMIC is good, that's definitely a plus.

ill get around to calling him. as for the 97, he wanted the bumpers the most. if my FMIC is good i could probably sell him the bumper and intercooler two in one. i HIGHLY doubt he wants the rear bumper anymore. ill be calling lloyd too. u have travis's number? or anyone else with a talon.

i hope you're kidding. seriously how much should i ask? the hood=gone, headlight = gone, probably needs a whole paintjob. rear bumper=gone. exhaust = probably gone. engine = pretty much trashed. lots of internals = trashed. what do u think a reasonable price would be?

id say 2500 or so, mainly becuase most of the stuff is salvageable to someone who knows what they are doing

alot of wiring can be redone etc etc, it wont cost alot to get it back up and gonig, just ALOT of time

this guy i believe knows a bit about cars. he drives a car that everyday i wonder how it runs. ill talk to my dad about it, but by him buying that, it would save me alot of time and effort trying to take out and sell parts. id have to see if he was interested first anyways.
