It's not neccessarily the "Import vs Domestics" mindset that some of us have... but rather, we label cars that have 2-6 cylinders as "Imports" and 8-10 cylinders, excluding Italian/German cars, as "Domestics"... and the rivalry/competition comes in the fact that 8-10 cylinder cars w/ lots of displacement like picking on most of the slower cars with half or less their displacement and cylinders... and ironically, vice-versa too... some of us 2-6 cylinders with tiny motors like picking on prey twice or three times our size. Just makes it more interesting and proves a point.

True and your right...funning thing, people talk about how much what they have in horsepower yet they can't make it down the track faster than a car with lower horsepower. The car with more horsepower may not have the suspension, or the driver is just novice. There are all kinds of factors to take into a place when talking cars. Case & point, my car has 430rwhp. i am novice driver and no way have learned to drive it to it's potential and been beaten serveral times by cars with tons less mods than mine. Competition is good. I beleive in it, it makes us all want to try to better ourselves, cars etc. But respecting competition is even better...in my opinion of course. There is alwasy fun harmless smack talk and then there is that other side. I have a saying you find out a true man(woman) when you step into the boxing ring see if they fight fair or below the belt. It is all about integrity!

you need to watch the latest episode of "Pinks" with a boosted Civic vs Firebird.

imo....he put a negative outlook towards imports.

20 car lengths?....how are you gonna ask for any kind of respect with that kind of handicap.

How funny you mention Pinks that is my favorite show. except when the cry babies show up. There was an epsiode with to rivleries out law cars down in orlando, i kept that one on my DVR! It is my favorite epsisode old school racing and it the entire race was headsup, even though the Nova(i think it was a Nova) knew that the Vette could take him. The Nova my pride won't let me give up lengths.... heads up all the way!

that was real racing....the guy with the nova spoke 100% truth about racing heads up. You're not really winning if you have to ask for lengths or have some advantage.

I gave Kudo's the the owner of the Nova, but the guy with the Vette outclassed the Nova. Good races though.

no... I don't need to watch a TV show aimed to entertain viewers in order to gain any insight of the racing world... especially on the concept of smaller motors vs bigger motors... I've never participated in any type of race... whether it be at the track or on the street, where you ask for car lengths for a handicap. That show is made for entertainment and for bench racers to reference to.

So are you calling me a bench racer? My reference to it was to simply show you a 4cyl motor vs something twice it's displacement size. You seem to have a real big problem with any motor that has more displacement than yours...to be honest with you, even backwood rednecks know that imports can be fast, but they just choose to stick with big blocks. What point are you trying to prove? That you have to spend some money and up the boost to beat a stock 06 Cobra, or a Stock Vette or even a stock Lightning?

Stock for stock, a Evo is not going to beat a bone stock Cobra, Vette, or Lightning.

You just seem like you have a chip on your shoulder againest domestics.

Heh, I enjoy domestics as much as I enjoy most other competition in the automotive world... I just derive extra gratification outta beating cars with motors two or three times my size. The point I'm trying to prove... or rather disprove, is that just because a motor is big doesn't mean it'll out-perform a smaller motor.

I've never seen a stock '06 Cobra yet and know nothing about them so I dunno what to say about that... however, at the track, there's no way in hell a stock C5 or Lightning will pull a faster ET than a stock Evo... both with adequate drivers... especially not an Evo IX... not to mention a IX should be able to tear apart any stock Cobra at the track too. Besides... who cares about stock vs stock? Its not like I goto the track and try to stage against cars with dealership tags.

I don't have a chip or whatever against domestics... beating a cobra, camaro, viper... or beating a sti, turbo eg/ek, or sr20, it's all fun... its just that most big motor people underestimate the smaller motors and assume they have an advantage no matter what due to their motor size.

well, you also have that stigma with turbo owners....they think if they run 25psi+ boost, they can beat just about anything.

I believe, every car has it's pros and cons. Sadly, like we all have it sounds like you have ran into some people that like to criticize anything that is not theirs. I don't necessarily believe bigger motor is better. I also get my fair that i am reminded i am girl and don't know much. I my know everything but I am learning. Some of the latest imports I have seen are bad ass, small motor or not. They may not have the same HP but they are lighter and in my mind quick as hell. At the same time a cobra or even a lightning with some very small mods, chip, pully, intake and you are up to 400 to 600rwhp. But Like I said you can't just look at horsepower or engine size (thought it helps), too much can make it bog and through off a tight launch and in turn miss the 60ft . There is so much more into building a highperformance modified car. You know we win some and we loose some... It is just too bad at the end of the day we can say hey man good race! And personally that is what I liked on that one episode of Pinks in orlando with the outlaw cars. It was the ONLY one that i saw done right! No cry babies or car lengths.
