I say leave it alone, and let whatever happends...happen. If it hasn't worked in the past, it probably won't work this go around. Everything happends for a reason, so you never know. If it's meant to be it will be.
But...I wouldn't force the issue.
Totally avoid your best friend.
Try dating your best friend, again.
Talk about it and come to some kind of compromise.
Leave the situation alone and let whatever happens happen.
