I agree with Paul and Brett.

You guys that don't like the "team" concept are usually NOT a member of any team, so I understand not getting it. It follows suit. The problem is that like Brett mentioned it is too often that one side bashes the other rather than simply chalk it up to "that's what THEY are into...good for them".

I personally have a daily driver that also shows. So I can kind of understand part of the argument. That's what I wanted and that's what I had built. Not everyone is into that. Some people are the extreme of either all go or all show. Good for them. Sometimes they do have a very nice car either way. Sometimes they have a POS that runs like a scalded dog or they have a POS that looks like it was built down off Buford Hwy somewhere.

I understand the crappy judging at shows like HIN where sometimes the judges award people for gawdiness rather than tastefulness. I totally agree with bad taste getting rewarded being gay. Problem is that most of us don't judge car shows, so we have to suck it up and move on. We can't blame the guy that got the trophy. We have to blame the cross eyed and blind judges for that.

Besides, I know lots of "clubs" that merely meet and invite other people all the time....members AND non-members. Just hanging out and talking car stuff. Not every "club" has to be this secret society with the paddles and branding logos in your arm types. Most are actually pretty laid back and enjoy talking to everyone, not just the members.
