    You're right, AWD doesn't help you stop on an ice patch but knowing how to drive during winter weather makes a whole shit ton of difference. I didn't stay inside during the last mess or any of the bad ones we've had in previous years and I've not once gotten stuck or slid into anyone or anything. Having 4WD only means your vehicle is capable, says nothing about the operator.
