I believe he may be saying to get it reduced to a civil misdemeanor so that it won't show up on an MVR. This fine is typically in the $150-175 range and is worth about 3 points on the license. So not the speed, but the charge itself.

Fuck the police. Sorry, someone had to go there to make this thread official. I've never seen an IA ticket thread that didn't go there and I fear change.
I would ask for every delay/extension possible. If the cop actually does show up, then plead Nolo Contendere and pay a reduced fine. At least they worked for it.
BTW: I should have told you... But when you are driving a red Miata with ABBA's "Dancing Queen" blaring at maximum volume... You tend to get harassed by the homophobic police.
