Of course TV is going to try and sensationalize and exploit the most extreme side of whatever they are documenting.

That being said, I have met some people who legitimately speak like that. I'd just be careful about stereotyping people with an accent. I have a fairly southern accent & learned how to drive on a tractor but don't work in a chicken house or sleep with any siblings.. and I've been pretty successful.

Actually, I know several people who own chicken houses and make quite a bit of money.
