So, turn 24 today and it's got me thinking. My life is not what I imagined it would be at this age when I was younger. Anyone actually living the life they always thought they would?

Practically no one is where they "thought" they would be, because it's always a moving target. Plus, we're all human. We make mistakes along the way, and the evil Sith Lord Darth Real Life is always waiting to attack when we least expect it.
My goal was to have a old Porsche 911 by the time I hit thirty, Now I'm 38 and have three kids instead. Wouldn't change a thing.
ive turned 24 too and was pretty depressed about it.
Look on the bright side, in a year your insurance rates will drop.
Where I thought it would be? Not completely. Some things what I thought? Yes. Happy? Yes.
Mistakes:
Not taking college seriously
Thats my only regret. I should have taken it more seriously and i would have done some things different knowing what i know now. I may have wasted about 3 years too long in the car performance industry, but it helped shape who i am today and i learned a lot.
Im pretty happy where i am

Nope. Should have taken college much more serious than i did. Should have taken women much less than serious than i did.
When you're young you feel like you have all the time in the world. When you get older you look back on how wasting time had such a dramatic effect on your life.
On the bright side....... i never wanted kids and dont have any "accidents", i'll pat myself on the back for that.
No one would be able to be where they thought they would be cause no one can look into the future. However, I did achieve a lot of goals that I have set to reach, and so far I can't complain.
I got free clear tails with my ride.....
what would jesus say.. ohh wait....
p.s. I love my life.
I can honestly say that although im not much older than you, ive already accomplished a lot in my lifetime. 10 yrs ago I would have never guessed this was the route id taken, but overall im probably better off than i could have imagined.
So yes!
I'm 25, Guess i'm content.
Because of various factors I was forced to take the slow, yet scenic route through college and next semester should be my last. Growing up, I was pissed off at the various challenges but I think they made me better prepped for "the real world" in retrospect.
I just take it a day at a time.

Life is pretty close to what I hoped it would be. I'm pretty happy here at the age of 30. The only thing I really want is to own a house, which should hopefully happen in the next five years.
Not where I thought I'd be career wise ( I fucking hate being an Automotive technician but it pays the bills), but im very happy with everything else in my life. Im 25 and have a beautiful 1yr old daughter, beautiful loving wife that puts up with my addiction to , sneakers, guns, and car parts. Come the end of the yr we hope to own our own home.
Sometimes I feel I should have accomplished more. I'm well off and all but just thought by now I would have done something "great" by now or atleast in the process of. Anyone have any big goals? I would love to take 6 months and travel the world by the time I'm 30.

I am no where near where I thought I would be, but I wouldn't go as far as saying its horrible. I'm 22 years old. At 18, I became a homeowner, I bought a foreclosed home at a very good price and I will be selling it hopefully next monthI own a very small office cleaning business and volunteer a lot in my community and church. I am happy and proud of myself and being latino, not having kids or working a minimum wage job is a plus for me. A lot of latino friends of mine aren't doing a thing with their lives, except only buying and smoking weed, drinking, working for minimum pay, having kids or having one on the way, or buying snap backs, bragging about how much they have swag. So I thank God for blessing me, my family, and the road that is ahead of me

ups and downs, learning from EVERY single experiences, i also was smart enough to learn from other peoples stupidity/mistakes. Really cant complain, like everyone i wish i knew back then what i know now, that would have helped a lot, but I thank God for everything, knowing where i came from life could be a lot worse. I also thank God that while being a black guy, I have ever smoked any weed, or a cigarette, drank any alcohol, nor has stepped foot in a jail cell, never had handcuffs on me, nothing; I guess it’s partly because im somewhat strong minded, even in high school, I did not have a problem with peer pressure, no peer of mine is going to persuade me to do something that I don’t want to do, I don’t care if everyone else is doing it. Just like with cars, if I like something ill do it to my car, weather other people like it or not, I am blown away when I see how others depend so much on what others will say about their cars if they do certain mods to it
Why dwell in the past? Focus on your future instead. Set a goal. Daily, monthly, weekly and yearly! And achieve that goal.

Some positive posts out here, and some humbling. I'll say this, it gets easier as you get older. My twenties were so tumultuous, but I had so much fun. Even if I was struggling, I had my health, and other positive things to focus on. I learned that with time comes money, stability, and a whole new set of problems. I almost said it's never ending, but we all know it is...I just wanna know that I live(d) my life to the fullest. I tried twice before I succeeded - sometime more or less, but I never gave up.
College isn't for everyone, but it's a great starting point. Anything can be taken away from you, but an education or knowledge can not be taken away.

Good stuff. Funny how many different responses there are.

From experience, what would you guys say was the single most important thing that helped you get where you are/through hard times? For me it's my faith. Close second comes really good family/friends.

Knowing where I wanted to be in life and always busting my ass no matter wat the task was in front of me.
Hell no.
At 25, I wished I took college more seriously. I work a full time salary job in IT, but I'm about to go back to school full time to finish up my engineering degree. I got a long road ahead of me.
Also made the mistake of buying a Subaru.
