Work for a Federal Contract for 3 years and you will see that a majority of items being sold are cheap and overpriced. We have parts designed and made sepcifically by Boeing for the AH-64D. Most of the time if not all, the parts never fit correctly and require modding. One small cowling (2'x3') made of fiberglass is $14,000 and will it ever fit right? Nope. Made in the US too. Moral of the story, everything now a days is being made cheaply to make a quick buck.
Aircraft, especially helos, will require modification for damn near any replacement part. Airframes twist and parts move because of it.
