It was 2 lanes on I-75 south of Atlanta. GSP pulled over both drivers for doing 55 in a 55, and ticketed both with impeding the flow of traffic, even though they were doing the speed limit exactly. I knew both drivers. Both went to the court, both pled not guilty, and explained that they would have been guilty of speeding if they were going any faster. The officer said that they were impeding the flow of traffic, and that more than 8 cars were behind each. The judge sided with the officer, and both were fined.
The fact is that cops can write up whatever they want, and if it is GSP, the judge will always side with the officer. I've had a judge say that point blank to me before, and he would be happy to tell you that as well if you wanted to ask him. He explained it this way - he has to work with his 4 GSP every day, and only has to see me once or twice. It makes a better working environment to take their word over anyone elses.
