I know a gun wasn't ever mentioned, but OP said he could't see the guy cause he blocked the peephole and you just never know with people these days. Either way, if I'm carrying I probably wouldn't have a problem going to the door, but if I've got nothing more than a fork I'm gonna use the phone. A fork could be a weapon and where did the .45 come into play? Hotel room doors do have that latch to partially open the door. At the same time, I see what your saying because your suppose to expect the unexpected and use the "What If" scenario in your head. All in all, as long as he didnt get hurt and is safe, thats all that matters. I would suggest now, is to just to go to another hotel
