If you are smart, and you happen to be taking a date/girlfriend, then you should rent a limo with another couple of guys that also have dates/girlfriends going.
The second thing you need is to rent a nice hotel room. I'm not talking about the Super8, or Holiday Inn. Get a classy place, preferably downtown. At least something like Embassy Suites. You may need someone older to help you rent it, but you will be much happier renting a good room with a date then spending that money on an import car rental.
Finally, use any money you have left over on some nice food (delivered to your room), drinks (that you need to already have at your room ahead of time - check in earlier in the day - and another reason not to drive), and plenty of protection.
Seriously, your father should have already explained all of this to you.
