At the people saying to just rent a car, I dont think most car rental places will rent to people under the age of 25 so he will probably be out of luck on that, Someone else said to throw in on a limo that is probably your best. The only reason I got to take that 69 mach1 was i worked in a body shop for several years in highschool and it was the owners car he let me take it knowing that if it got so much as scratched of breathed on wrong he would take it out of my check and my ass! But honestly I still would have got layed if I picked my date up in a 87 ford tempo.

Look, here is what you need to understand. Forget about renting a car that you plan on driving - you aren't old enough to rent at any rental business, nor should you for prom.

If you are smart, and you happen to be taking a date/girlfriend, then you should rent a limo with another couple of guys that also have dates/girlfriends going.
The second thing you need is to rent a nice hotel room. I'm not talking about the Super8, or Holiday Inn. Get a classy place, preferably downtown. At least something like Embassy Suites. You may need someone older to help you rent it, but you will be much happier renting a good room with a date then spending that money on an import car rental.
Finally, use any money you have left over on some nice food (delivered to your room), drinks (that you need to already have at your room ahead of time - check in earlier in the day - and another reason not to drive), and plenty of protection.
