I think on the whole post deleting subject, to please both sides a pm and time limit should be established. Something like you have 24 hours to fix post/thread from when mod contacts you to tell you what is wrong with post and/or how to fix problem. First, complaints later on why it was deleted will not matter because they will have a pm of why. Secondly, IA members will have a chance to fix their problems and learn from mistakes, face it everyone doesn't read terms and updates. This should also eliminate mods froim being "complete asses" in the eyes of IA members and just deleting post randomly without warning.

the biggest problem this site has is the "scene" itself. the biggest issues imo:

    1) its just not as big as it used to be. a lot of people got out of imports when the honda "scene" passed its prime. the 2001+ civic killed it.
    2) seems like most people don't really have anything to contribute any more. i feel i probably fall into this category. there are plenty of people on the site with years of experience, but when its generally either a bunch of broke kids asking stupid questions, or people trying to prove their e-masculinity, it leaves little reason to post. most of the veterans or innovators just do their thing without sharing. plus some of the mods on here honestly are ignorant and have virtually no real experience with cars.
    3) perception. i lurk the site now occasionally, but i was so put off by the childishness years ago that i don't spend nearly as much time as i used to on here. hopefully the site is taking a better direction, it does seem to be much faster now.

That's why the posts are moved to their specific locale. To help drive up "business" in that section. The WL gets it's views even with those topics being moved. Now I don't care how it's set up. If we get rid of several subsections, so be it. It might be a good idea at this time to do so. You remember several years ago when this site was going strong, having all the subs were almost necessary. Later, QD.

I like IA, i just stopped posting for a bit because I wasn't modding anything, but i always poked around the forum as a guest from time to time. I say its all gravy. I just miss the old layout ( i really like blue) and theres probably a way I can make this layout blue too, but i lack the motivation to check. I missed QD owning people when they'ed call him out and I missed talking cars with EJ25RUN so i decided to start posting again, as i now start my search for a newmad tyte whip yoooooo

For me I got on here to learn about something I loved to do. It just seems like over time IA kinda strayed from that for me. I missed going to the huge meets that used to pop up and the random long ass goofball threads. I dunno where things strayed but it seems like it was a lot of " grow up" and not what I ended up liking about this place. THE WL was in my eyes meant to be stupid and I met some good people on here ( Sammich for one). And from time to time when I have the occasional mechanic question I usually come here first. I don't have decades of experience and I'll admit I jumped into this when the scene was in hospice but hell I decided to come back more after my wreck a few weeks back. I hope going forward that if it doesn't go back to where it was at least go better. I miss the hilarity..

i stopped coming because i got fat & ugly and people stopped asking me "ARE YOU TOXXXIC?!?!" when i went in public.

no but seriously, i had no specific reason for being absent. the amount of daily posts (QUALITY posts) went in the shitter, so i guess i really had nothing to post about.

    so yeah.

Its just funny how a thread gets made like this like every 5 years. These are the reasons why

    1) The "scene" is no longer what it used to be. Its gotten bigger in some ways and much smaller in others.

    2) Competition- It used to be if you had an import you went to Importatlanta or importlounge. Now, you have competing forums like WRXatlanta, EVOAtlanta, 240ATLANTA, EastcoastHonda, that have split the demograhpics up, and, the national sites have gotten bigger like ClubLexus, Honda-Tech, etc

    3) Meets have become CLICKY- I dont know when it specifically happened, but at some point MEETS became less about hanging out and showing off a car you took pride in, and became SOLELY about pleasing others. The generation taking over the car world cares so much more about what the others think that they churn out cookie cutter, after cookie cutter, after cookie cutter car that just plain GETS BORING. I mean Chad recently couldnt find 1 honda in atlanta to shoot for a magazine. Not because there isnt a nice honda in atlanta, but because they all look the same. Or they think their daily driver is ok for a magazine because it has stock interior and CRAZY STANCE y0!

    4) MONEY- Again, i dont know when it happened, but somewhere along the line the people replacing the OGs make far less money or just dont want to spend it. Go to any local meet, and truly look at the cars there. Garbage. I dont really care about your $500 wagovan with $800 +0 offset CCW knockoffs. Civics all look the same, 240s all look the same, no one has any real style anymore, and even less care about being fast. When did it become cool to just put some DOODOO wheels on your car and slam it for the least amount of money possible? My old roomate had a $3000 92 LS400, he puts the CHEAPEST coilovers he can find on it, with some REPLICA KNOCKOFF BMW wheels on it with the CHEAPEST CHINESE Tires he could find, and people actually said "WOW YOUR CAR IS COOL". What retard on this planet thinks that is COOL and justifies being a "car enthusiast". I dont know who i blame more, the kid building the car, or the kids too chicken shit to tell him hes a retard and STOP other kids from copying him.

    5) HIGHSCHOOL MENTALITY- What we are witnessing is the changing of the guard really. Most people who were big into cars 10 years ago, are now in their mid to lower 30s (or 50s if your QD). They grow up, they have families , they have more money, they care about other things. I remember the epic battles and drama that would happen on here, but i just dont remember it being as childish as it is now. Certain people had clicks, or groups, but for the most part everyone got along. You had the SM and BG drama, i know george and i got into it a few times, me vs tank, TS vs BG etc, but , the majority all were cool with each other.

Somewhere that stopped. Now you have these niche groups that inbreed and shit talk everyone else, and when their own group out casts them, they become best friends with the opposing group like it never happened.......its like people lack a backbone. If i DONT LIKE SOMEONE, there is nothing that person can do to change my mind. I may decide to tolerate them, but ill never just flip a switch and change my mind and act like its all ok. That shows a lack of character. Guys and girls are guilty of this.

So, itll never be the same, because thats life. Shit changes. you cant MAKE people be more involved, you cant make people be less stupid. As i get older i learn that more and more, and i just decided it wasnt for me anymore. Sure i still drive an Acura, it has wheels, and exhaust, but thats where it stops. If you ever see me at a local meet, remind me to shoot myself in the head with my gun because i really just want no part of it.

I spend my time going to NFL games, NBA games, MLB Games, on vacation, or with my GF. Ive chosen that path because for me its better and i get more reward from it than i do from cars or the car scene or logging onto a forum.

I post here to argue about sports and politics when im bored, thats about as little interaction as im willing to have right now.

I read on Time magazine that most forums in the USA are up in members by 18% and down 53% over the last 3 years in traffic/time logged/page views.

I predicted this back in late 06 early 07... However, never thought it was going to be as bad. That's why most forums were up for sale or sold.. But being in the online business for so long, you couldn't really compete , unless you had a deep budget.
When you add that factors that Mike just added with his post , it may just get worst.... Just 5/6 years ago it seems like quite a few 23 to 25 year old Had better income then today and were more creative.
It was easy to see at a car show or drag strip several car owners saying they dropped 50k into their cars.. And YOU COULD see the investment... Now a days, .. You see only a few IF THAT. The rest are seriously a joke... Rusted hood, home painted crap..bubble gum wheels.. Etc... What at one time was normal... Is now something special.

I love cars, Will always admire nice cars..always will.. Honestly, I do not miss waking up at crack of dawn for a car show.. Or spending all night at the strip to get in 3 runs.. Not worth it, for now.. Will I ever do it again.. Who knows.. I have a family, + a beautiful daughter and a great career. All those important things keep me tied up and have more value over anything.

I will continue to drive my CRV around and admire nice whips when I see one....if I want to cruise around and enjoy the nice weather, I'll drive the C5.

Its the no patience generation though. I call it the Facebook generation. Filled with instant gratification, instant acceptance, destroys creativity and free thinking.

There may be more members on forums, but the amount of time they spend on the forum is way down I would think. Forum interaction is not what it used to be.

People still do it in atlanta. The auto scene in atlanta is fine. The problem was that ia had no purpose other than buy/sell forum. In the last few years ia lives only on the internet. Which does nothing, and it got old and it still gets old.

The scene in atl is fine from how I see it. There are tons of quality built cars here. Out of state folks think highly of atlanta cars.

Honestly other than for sale section what does ia do now?

^Pretty much. Based on the last Tunerfest, it showed people would rather come out (in the rain mind you) than sit indoors on the computer. People still have love for the scene, you just have to give them somewhere to show it. However I will say this new generation has me concerned, to say the least. But that's not limited to the ones that claim to be automotive enthusiasts. I think they must be putting something in the water.

    Really ? Weird.

Anyways Jitb , I will say this. And please take no offense to what I will say..but is reality or maybe perception....

But your online persona is more popular then any car you have built..

Just being honest, no pun intended.

However, you have been around the block a long time.. Shoot, I meet you a couple of times..

, you always seemed like a level headed car enthusiast who enjoys cars and supported IA for years. But in reality, what have you built ? Nothing really over the top.. What I'm really trying to say is.. Like you, they are tons of folks out there..

But please remember, no pun intended... Just something to look at .

If I'm wrong, I will retract my comment.

^That's the whole problem right there. People care too much about what you're driving/what you've built rather than the community as a whole. Based on that statement no wonder the automotive culture is deteriorating like it is. Maybe thinking all of Atlanta is fine is being optimistic, but there are true enthusiasts left believe it or not. But if they have to deal with being treated as if what they drive/have built is directly correlated with their worth in the community, I don't blame them for staying at home.

I think I will back some of the statements of the Tuner scene being dead, with some random facts:

    - The NOPI Nats was one of the largest tuner shows in the world.........gone

    - HKS, Wings West, APC, and dozens of others that were 99.9% tuner companies.........gone

    - remaining companies that started making tuner stuff were either bought up by others, or started making stuff for domestics/trucks.

    - Sport Compact Car Mag, Toy Machine Racer, C16, etc.............gone.

I am older and also an Industry guy. I remember the sport back in its prime. It was a cool scene and 10 million times bigger than it is now. It climaxed, and is done for lack of a better word. Sure, it still exists to some degree, but not like it did. Much of the scene are folks that are buying "once hot" Civics/Tegs and putting them back into circulation solely because its what they could afford. It's simply a product, trend, and its life cycle. Just like MiniTrucks, at some point you grow up and tastes change. Don't tell me at 40 years old and $100K annual salary that you'd pick a 20 year old Civic/DSM with stretched tires over a Stock Tahoe........

II buy a car and mod it up to how I like it, and do what I can. I don't need any big build to have friends or make friends or do anything. And I don't need a persona to make anything happen. I am jitb online and in person. I am my own person.

I also don't need a car to validate anything I have going on in my life. I have always bought what I want modded what I wanted and could for what I wanted at the time.

The fact that you think that anything I have built or not built makes or breaks is a joke within itself. I don't need to list stuff I have owned and stuff I have built because who cares.

The same reasoning you are throwing at me I can throw back you, in the sense that the last car anyone remembers you in is a corvette with spray painted wheels, and before that the civic back years ago.

Over the top is a opinion, do what you want and be happy, don't need anyones approval on anything never have never will.

What jitb has done or not done has nothing to do with IA, truth is IA turned to shit, when you and paul stopped doing the things that made ia great. Everyone grows up and life changes and people have to do put things in priorities. But that's what it boils down to with this place. Shit happens people move on, but its not the folks of Atlanta fault that ia isn't the place to be anymore.

How is that a problem ?

Dude, wake up bro and face reality... I'm not going to leave my house to see non creative anything. 99% of us careless if someone got beat up at a meet or event... MOST people want to go out and see different creative cars or whatever it is.. That's my point.

I go to car events, to see shit out of this world..

I go to gun shows, to get deals or look at stuff I may never own.

I go to Morton's steak house because I like good steak.

Nowhere is really "the place to be" on the Internet right now. Forums, as a whole, aren't shit right now. They are surviving, not thriving. It seems that everyone is doing their own things now and post a little online. Forums aren't hopping, meets (at least around Atlanta) aren't hopping; nothing really is. It's been that way all year. You've (JITB) had several very good meets this year, but that's really been it. I mean I know there is Alliance, but that's one time a year for Atlanta. Seems like people are just kind of hanging out with each other offline....which is actually not a bad thing. Hell I still get on here out of sheer habit. But anyone can tell you know that I don't get on here nearly as often as I used to. I rarely post like I did.

Will IA ever get back to its heavy traffic flow days? I doubt it. Not because of what's happened to IA over the last year or so. Just because of the times. Forums, just like APC, Sport Compact Car and NOPI, are headed to the past.

I guess time will tell, huh? Lolol. Later, QD.

I don't know about all you guys, but to me, a car enthusiast, that is a true car enthusiast, never "moves on". This isn't just a hobby, it's not a phase, it's not something I like to do when I have time, it's a lifestyle. From the time I wake up to the time I go to bed I'm thinking about cars, about modding, about racing them, about what I want, and about what I'll have in the future. I'm never going to get over this. Not for a wife nor kids. If my girl doesn't like this about me, she's gone. Just like that. If I ever get married my wife will understand or we're not getting married. I'm not a bitch, and I don't let girls have my balls. I'm my own person and I live for cars, to work on them, to mod them, to race them, to look at them, to read about them, I just love it.

I met a guy on the sentra forum who has a vq'ed swapped sentra running 12's all motor. You know how old he is? 78. Yes 78. Seventy eight years of age old-at the track with us, drag racing and having fun. That's going to me when I get old.

I'm going to school to be an optometrist, they make decent money. You know why? It's not because I care about houses or jewelry. It's the only way I know I can afford to have a gtr and a decent living because I damn sure can't afford one making 19.30 an hour. This obsession of cars, is all consuming and everything else comes second, well within reason of course.

I'm living in reality. Shit ain't like it used to be. You have to look far and wide to find something that hasn't been done before. If you want to use that as a cop-out to be anti-social then so be it. I'll admit it's rare I see a car that truly impresses me nowadays. But that doesn't mean I stay at home, rather I've turned my attention to motorsports to keep me entertained. But that doesn't mean I'm going to forgo the social interactions with people who share a common interest. Without the people, none of this is worth a damn.

Oh and my job consists of doing nothing so Im always on forums lmao so I'll be around as long as its worth being around. I still post here and there. It's just that, without the old gtr debates, there isn't much for a nissan fanboi like me to post.

I remember the good ole days when "building a car" involved a shell, a welder, a block, and tools. Apparently "building a car" now consists of taking it to the tint shop, bolting up some fucked up wheels from a car that has absolutley no relation, and 4 mismatched craigslist tires. I agree with Julio 100%. when I go to a car show, I want to see shit nicer than my secretary's car or my wifes car. How many times do we have to move C&O to stop a row of 66 stock 1995 BMW's, 350Z's, and C5 Vettes? When I go to a car show, I dont want to see the same shit I see on GA400 during rush hour. I want to see Bigfoot, The General Lee, and some damn significant cars.
