there's many examples of threads being deleted, but just to use a silly one as example......
I had a thread deleted in the sports section talking about Boise State, Bangingjimmy was posting support for Boise State and i was debating BSU's easy schedule compared to SEC teams. I posted Boise State's Bowl record compared to SEC teams and said to Bangingjimmy
"didnt expect you to have much to say after i laid out the facts for you"
That post was deleted...... in addition to all of the conversation leading up to it. Nobody was cursing each other, no "fuck you"s or "your mom's a whore", just a pretty run of mill football argument.
Point im trying to make, Mods sometimes delete posts simply because they dont agree with you. If 2 people on IA are arguing with each other, mods shouldnt get in the middle of it until it gets overly confrontational. Our current mods break out the riot gear for pillow fights.
i understand that posts are gonna get deleted and some, understandably so..
here is an example of a post i requested to be deleted..
i had a picture in the car pics section of my civic and in the background was my friend who is overweight.. somebody made an obscene remark that was completely unnecessary. i asked for it to be removed, and it was..
an example of a post that should not have been deleted..
some guy was selling a bike rack but had it mislabeled as to what it would fit... i simply put a post with what it would actually fit, not in any condescending fashion, just to inform the potential buyer of what it will fit.. MY post was deleted within 12 hours but the FS thread remained up..
This is the type of post deletion that upsets me..
Do you remember the title of this thread. I just checked your thread start history and you have zero posts deleted in the SPORTS section. This section has some sort of cut-off time where threads not active scroll out after a certain amount of inactive time. I think this may be the problem. Later, QD.
I got busy with life for a while, plus my car was down for about 3 years which was a sore spot up until recently when it is running again. Now a days I enjoy it but there doesn't seem to be as much traffic so I get bored.
I just looked again through your history and found nothing like that. I can see deleted threads, too, but nothing shows up. I do vaguely remember a thread with that sort of topic title. I can honestly say I don't know where that went. Did you start the thread? Later, QD.
It did scroll off, dude. It was never deleted. Found it for you. Later, QD.

He means his post inside that thread was removed...i looked only 1 posted was removed on page 4
First of all, I've never really had a problem here. I've been banned a few times but shit happens and life goes on. I've met a lot of cool people through here and hope this site stays and activity increases.
Now with that said some of the mods do need to loosen up and and stop being defensive. The way I see it is, if no one is getting physically hurt, and no theft or fraud is going on, then people should be allowed to do whatever they want to do on here just my 2 cents.
And that's what this thread is about right? Us, the members giving our 2 cents about IA?
I remember the infraction and it wasn't for that post. I was hoping you'd acknowledge that I took responsibility for the deleted post, restored it and apologized to make the situation right, but hey, in the words of Mick Jagger, "you can't always get what you want." Haha. Later, QD.
I think IA should give its members a bailout. I mean..WHERE IS MY BAILOUT!?
my .02:
I dont think that its necessarily the decline of IA or has much to do with its moderators. Its a combination of things that fell into place over the past few years and a slower IA is the byproduct. Facebook is becomming the best way to stay in touch with friends online, where 10 years ago enthusiast forums served this purpose. The "tuner scene" has been declining for 5 years now. The economy has been declining for a few years now. The target audience is growing older. As we get older, we gain other things to occupy our time (work, girlfriends, wifes, kids, and bills). The market in general is a short window for most. Sure, we all still lover cars of all kinds, but as you get older, you have less time to deal with them. When you do have a problem with something, most head to the forums for THEIR specific vehicle, its more direct and detailed. IE: when I have DSM, M3, or STi issues that need sorted, I make a pass through the dedicated forums, not here. When I want to see local pics of cars or shows, I come here.
Grant it, there are exceptions to the scenarios above, but I think for the most part, many will agree.
my 2 cents, this site is pretty cool and convenient if you have a quick question or you want to buy/sell something in atlanta, or like tnomud said, when you want to read up about a recent meet, but i've noticed basically all the posts in the whoreslounge are just public conversations between a few friends and if a random person chimes in its "WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU!?!?!?!!?" besides the WL there's really not much left for IA to offer
To all the folks asking the point of this thread, it's pretty much something I felt could help after a thread I read in the Super Mod section. I personally believe that nobody's post in here should cause any trouble, but maybe the mods/admin step back and try to figure out how we can better the site. I think mods and members should work together, because at the end of the day we're here for the same reason... we delete something that's not just blatantly asking for it, maybe we should PM the member and give them a heads up. Members have a problem with a mod, make a callout thread. Mods have a problem with a member, make a callout thread... if your thread sucks dick and you're just butt hurt, the responses will show.

I never left. I still get on about everyday, but it's mostly just lurking to see pictures and cars for sale.
agreed 100% That being said, model specific forums also have their drawbacks as well. Model specific forums are all about versy specific stuff and the blinders are on. It gets irritating at times. Some forums (EX: BMW forums) have members that have the personality of treestumps. This forum is filled with some fun folks at times.
Don't give a shit about cars or the people in the car scene anymore. Who wants to assoicate with a bunch of whiny followers who are perpetually trapped in high school....I turned 30, I don't need it anymore. I only come hereto argue politics when I get REALLY BORED.

My
If someone posts something, it should remain in that section... Many times has shit been moved from the WL, if I (per-say) wanted it in the religion section... Then I would have posted it there. Fact is the WL gets more views. If that's a problem then get rid of the sub-topics.
Agreed.
Definitely get rid of the Blog section. Who has two thumbs and doesn't care about your life story...
This guy.
