    MOST all insurance companies will provide you with rental reimbursment. Like someone mentioned above, you get a rental car for the duration of your repairs or until you get another car, all at the expense of the insurance company. You don't even have to be 21, as over the years growing up I've been in situations like you.

    The only catch is that you MUST have the rental reimbursment on your insurance plan at the time of the accident. If not that you are screwed.

    He can always use the other person's insurance to get a rental car (which is what he should do anyway).
