    Default Your First Driving Experience..

whas your first driving experience, i know some people have horror stories and some normal stories.

well mine, the first time in an 5spd, i stalled like there was no tomorrow....but i learned in about 2 days to get it to where i stall out rarely and about a month before i had it somewhat perfected...
i forgot to mention, i was concentrated on driving a stick shift that i had to turn my music off so i could concentrate, i thought to myself i may never be able to listen to music and drive a stick shift Lol

my first experience driving a 5 speed was on ice in indiana with my dad in his 626 oddly enough. he said, ok clutch, ease, gas, go... i said ok...he looked and me and was like look you've been playing video games since you were 3 don't tell you you don't know how to do this, he goes don't worry either way you're going to spin the tires on the ice lol. just don't hit anything. so i learned to drive a stick in about 3 minutes... and how to not crash and get the rear end sideways in a fwd car on ice all in the same day.... wierd. but fun. (o yeah, also on my 2nd day my dad told me to drive to the airport mind you the highways are iced and i proceeded to do 3 360's on a huge crowded high way. just wow)

ok, you want a story driving a stick.. heres one... I remember when I got my Focus, It was time for my lease to be up on my Saturn 3dr coupe, so I followed Brett in the Saturn to Wade Ford, and saw the car, it was a 5 speed, didnt know how to drive it, so Brett took me to a UPS parking lot gave me a 30 min session and then said ok, you can drive it tomorrow... so the next day i was going to work and I had to go up a steep hill and there was a BMW on my ass... so I pulled up the e brake got out of the car, and said unless you want to eat my ass, I suggest that you back up.. he did, I laid rubber and made it up the hill... funny story

    hahahahah
what i do, i dont know if brett told you this lil tip, if your on a hill and someone is on your ass, pull the e brake, put it in first gera, when you start to feel teh car pull, let the e brake go and your on your way with no roll back

First time I tried to drive a stick was ohhh about a month ago....if that.

I had a very nice and patient instructor (that kept his hand on the e-brake when on hills). I didnt wreck, run over anything, or damage the car....so it's all good. I was pretty scared when he directed me out on main roads...but shifting from 2nd to 3rd on a semi-curvey road was awesome.

when the IS300 first came out one of my older friend bought it ..
it was auto so i was good, but he kept yelling at me for gasing at turns ..
my first manuel was my EG which i did pretty well except for hills ..
i did pretty well i guess except for steep hills or any hills ..
well the only thing i did was do a burn out on roswell road near my work ..
i was trying to turn in the parking lot and i dunno how i did it ..
this was at like 9 in the morning and people looked at me like i was crazy ..
i parked the car real fast and got out smelling like rubber and i was scared ..

When I bought my car I didn't know how to drive a manual...so my boyfriend had to drive it home for me. And he spent the next week or so teaching me how to drive it, god bless him, too... I'm a spaz so everything is a really big deal to me. I would be driving fine and suddenly forget everything I was supposed to do and start screaming like a psycho because I couldn't remember if I needed to downshift or whatever. Hilarious. My favorite story is when we were having problems with my ignition wires, so we bypassed the ignition and ran wires to the starter...well, I pulled one of the wires loose driving home (hadn't really figured out where I wanted the start button so everything was a mess) and spent the rest of the time freaking out that I was going to stall and not be able to start my car again...so from every stop I held it at four grand and dumped the clutch... I was burning the tires the rest of the way home.
"I speak my mind coz bitin' my tounge hurts."

    Oh yeah. I did it.

    homo

you were in two guys or learned in two days, lol

my first experience driving was our old minivan

shit was nice had "sport wagon" written on the side

we lived in apt's then so dad was like take it to the carwash(like next lil building in the complex)

it was ready and in park out of the parking spot

i didnt know about lowend tq in american cars and spealed the tires

then i hit the brakes hard caause i am, err was an avid bike rider and i alway pull real hard on bikes so maybe its the same for cars, but its not, lol

that shit is so true, ppl are idiots about that

when on a hill not everyones idle keeps them still and not in a manual but theres always an ass who has to come three inches from you

ive heard that e brake, clutch in, gear, rev it a lil higher then normal, dump clutch and e-brake in unison (e-brake should trail) and your set, but black marks are almost inevitable, esp in FWD cars.
if in auto just left foot brake

I was 15 with a permit and I already learned everything from watching my father and brothers drive.

So it wasn't hard, I was actually surprised.

Taught myself how to drive a 5 speed a few years ago (I know i'm late)

I remember when I was 15 I had the balls and the stupidity to take out my mom’s ’90 300zx 5speed while my parents were out of town … I had taken it out on a joy ride and got some fast food. On my way back taking a left turn I got on it a little too much and started to fish tall back and forth and almost wrecked … It scared the LIVING SHIT out of me. After that I went anywhere from 30mph – 40mph on the way home and never took it out by myself until I turned 16
