Default Gas prices GA vs. SC

i work in GA,SC,NC. for some reason GA and NC prices stay about the same but when your in SC it about 30-40 cents cheaper ie. i paid 3.38 in SC today. this morning before work i paid 3.73 in GA. why is the the prices so much different? Is GA just greedy and tax more, or SC just doesn't have a tax law any idea?

in cartersville I've been paying between 3.50-3.60

gas price differences are just higher in higher populated areas because they can

Even at $100 a barrel a gallon of gas only costs roughly $2.38 to make. After you add expenses to get gas from refinery to the bulk distributors then to the gas station i would expect it to be around $3.20/$3.40 per gal retail for regular. The only real money to be made in the fuel business is the money made getting it out of the ground.

Greed and taxes. It's that simple. Remember that when gas prices went up, more tax was added to gas and that tax has not come off yet eventhough the price has dropped back down.

Greed? Oil company profits are down the first quarter. Can't remember which oil giant, but they paid $10 billion in taxes and only made $8 billion in profit.

Exxon makes about $0.04 per gallon sold at ~$4/gallon. The gas station selling it makes ~$0.01, sometimes no profit at all, they rely on merchandise/food sales. The government/s, depending on which state, makes $0.40-$0.80 per gallon.
