Also a rule of mechanics is that the less moving parts a machine has the more reliable it is. 4cyl FTW.V8 guys need to sink the same amount of money into their suspension to keep up with lightweight 4 cylinder cars as we do to make our 4 cylinders keep up with their v8s. i guess its what you want, but i like to be able to drive my car somewhere else besides a straight line.

The 4g is very rarely the problem, its the fact that Mitsubishi and Chrysler combined efforts to make a vehicle. Thus resulting in them being pieces of shit. Everything outside of the engine bay is gonna break. Even all the shit people associate with the 7 bolt is way exaggerated. But plenty of people have well built DSM's that are street driven, running 10's or less, and reasonably reliable considering the amount of mods done.

That being said, if I'm going in a straight line, I'll be in a Cobra.
