To me the 280z was the best chassis (with a few changes like a 240z doors and such) the weight in that car was all for additional chassis rigidity and EFI, the 280zx took it too far with superfluous things done here and there that for no reason needed to be strengthened.
The weight was from the addition of luxury items, which a sports car does not need. The 2+2 took it to a new level - the addition of a back seat in a sports car - not needed, and adding additional weight. The 2+2 was arguably the worst sports car that Nissan ever made - weak, heavy, and wasted space.

The 300ZX redeemed itself with its looks, the 2+2 was just not proportional when they extended it past the B-pillar. I'm not the only one that thinks so.

The B210 is awesome with a big motor - but I never considered it a sports car.
What you should do is take the driveline from your 280 and put it in your wagon.....
