It's not the gear, its the R200 rear end that came with the 5 speed.

5th is OD, so you will have a 1:1 ration in 4th gear in either the 5 spd, 4 spd, or auto. At best, the R200 came with a 3.7:1 rear gear ratio. The 4 spd came with a 3.364:1. That would save you 1 second at most in the 1/4. So you drop from 18.4 to 17.4 - does it even matter when it is that slow?

Actually, I just found a 3.9 that was available for his 2+2 if it was made after 8/79. He might be able to gain about a 0.5 sec if it is that high. maybe 17 flat if lucky, and engine and tranny are fresh and not worn.

Still puts me right next to that pos neon and integra at full weight. And it takes me 5 minutes to drop those plate steel reinforced bumpers that weight 30+lbs each.

Actually, that Neon is about a 16.0 sec time. So about a second faster. The Integras usually are around 16.8-17.0, on those older models.

Real safe to be removing bumbers - some tracks like MMP and Commerce won't let you pass tech to run without them.
