Here are the facts.

If they arrest someone for a serious crime, and have to lock them up, it cost money.
If they ticket someone who makes a decent living, and he pays it, they make money.

Which do you think they are most interested it?

Why do you think that they prefer to take robbery reports over the phone now, and don't want to show up to dust for fingerprints when they are obviously there? I had that happen once many years ago. According to the cops, they never could solve it, and did not want the fingerprints left on the scene - and we knew that they were of the criminal. I found the person who broke in 4 days - and it was a random person who I did not know. I am not a detective, so why was I able to do a much better job than those trained and paid to solve these crimes? The reason is simple. I put in reasonable effort, and they were too lazy to do it - it doesn't have any financial gain for the department.

It's almost like your giving them an excuse. If you or I were speeding to get too work to make money for our homes and got pulled over and ended up late for work due to them wondering why I'm carrying say... 60 in a 45. We all know and they all know when most people travel to and from work. They wait.... and wait... some even wait hours to catch the few people whom are behind schedule for whatever reason. Just to make $$?

If it was such a problem with the cost of jailing people then how or why in the world is there such a large and exploding population of jailed individuals? Stop trying to cover it with money. There are many other things our tax dollars could be going to instead of to the gas tanks of wasteful large luxury sedans.

fuck hall county and oakwood cops, i was a stop sign not a car in sight, my ef lost power and had to get out and fix batt cable. i start up and get maybe a 1 mile down the road when an oakwood come flying down the road from behind me had to be doing 80 in a 20 to pull me over(keep in mind i was driving the speed limit as i live on the road) the cop gets on my ass alost rear ends me, rides my ass for like a min or 2 then flips his lights on and proceeds to pull me over. he gets out and comes to my car and tells me to get outa my car and put my hands on the roof. he pats me down then calls for a k9 unit so 3 fucking cops come at his bitch call. have the dog search my car then he proceeds to give me a ticket for obstructing and intersection. wtf i say fuck cops they do nothing but fuck with ppl. yea dont get cuaght breaking the law, but when ur not doing anything they decide to fuck with ppl. and get this shit i had a rb25det s13 240 and the same motha pulled me over about 6 months ago for my bov and i was going over a speed bump so i had to go slow as shit. he said i was laying drag, speeding, atempting to evade he had me in a holding cell over night. fuck the police do ur job and leave reg ppl alone like me!

I have done more than that, I've had a few letters published in various local newspaper/magazines and plan to continue to bitch until they've had enough. There is a difference in me and someone bitching at a ticket, I've had issues with the police but that's not why I am bitching, I also didn't say ALL COPS suck. You can't truly say that all cops are great and protect us. I bet half wouldn't even consider what they do risky. They don't control the street, they control the flow of traffic.

1. I'm pretty sure he never said anything about you being mad about getting a speeding ticket that "wasn't your fault". However, you did admit that you have had your "issues" with the police.

SOMETIMES the police catch criminals in a traffic stop, HOWEVER, there is no way you can believe that there is a better chance pulling over a criminal than there is parking in a high crime neighborhood and either breaking up some crime or responding to calls faster to ATTEMPT to catch a criminal. I'm sorry but if I'm robbed and the man is on foot, a cop better show up within a few minutes and at least SEARCH, not a few hours later.

I wasn't robbed one of Haley's co-workers was. That's not the point though that just made me mad how it took 3 hours for a cop to come. It's THAT girls second time being mugged this month too, talk about bad luck.

However no, ONE cop is all it takes to just show up in a timely manner and at LEAST simply drive around the surrounding area. At least be seen and known.

I know im a noob here but i have been reading this awesome conversation. In my opinion there are NO good cops. Keeping in mind that they are just like us they put their pants on one leg at a time. Human like us with the urge to abuse this so called power we as socieity give them. Here in Chattanooga i have made a criminal carreer over driving because the police have nothing better to do, when i was 17, 18 hell even 19 i was a stupid speeder like 100 plus every where i went. The only time i was ever tagged was when i was going like 5 over or running a stop sign.
Here the ghetto is filled with drug dealers who sell drugs to kids KIDS!!!!! i witnessed a child maybe 11 yrs old purchase weed from his local weed man. My x girl trashed my stuff at my apartment called me and the cops then convenced them it was my friends that did it ater telling me and 2 other officers that it was 2 random guys. The job is to protect and serve not to make people scared to call you in the event of an actual emergency......Danger is in the job description ya dont want to be shot dont be a cop.

While the odds of catching a rapist or murderer are slim to none compared to anything it does not take the entire police force to catch a drunk......they seem to make them selves pretty visible. A friend of mine went for a "ride along" with a cop which is something any one can do and he told me the cop pulled people over for anything he could think of just to look for drugs. some may be doing there job...but most are just abusing the perks of it and the bad cops far out weigh the good cops

Budget projections - learn how they work, and why they have estimation plans well in advance. It is about money. They order cars, construction of jails, etc. on budget projections. Then they have to pull in enough revenue to make those budgets. This is not the federal government. City, state, and counties, are supposted to not run a deficit - by law.
Tickets bring in a lot of revenue.

There are enough people committing crimes that require an arrest - that is why jails fill up. Look at their budgets though - guess where a large portion of the jails budget comes from.

LOL, Officers don't have to sit anywhere with their lights on just for you to see them. Next, All we have to do is be visible up to 500ft. Also people don't slow in Ga just because they see a cop most of them slow down to be nosey. State Patrol can sit anywhere and radar/laser without you seeing them, they don't have to be visible. It's funny how much some of you complain about cops, but don't see anything wrong with how you drive. Maybe we should stop writing tickets, so if one of you gets killed by a reckless or a speeding or drunk driver, we can refer back to this thread.
