At the end they said the money was why the Mexican and Colombian Cartels were so hard to eliminate but I disagree. They are hard to eliminate because politicians here and abroad, especially here, are afraid to piss people off by really going after them. All the names may not be known to us average folk, but those in the upper levels of govt and law enforcement know them. it would not be hard to send in a group of mercenaries, for deniability sake, to simply eliminate them. Make an example of 3 or 4 MAJOR players and you will drive the rest so far underground that they will become ineffective and lose their hold. At this point you start going after the smaller guys. The point is, arresting the smugglers, street dealers, and users is pointless as there is a literally unlimited supply of them running around. Take the head off the beast and the resulting power struggle will either drive all major players into obscurity or it will highlight them and make they easy to eliminate.
