I'd rather see 5 closest car friends than 5 random people with the probability 4 members or even all of them could care less about what it's for other than a free trip to Vegas. Now it's turned into a random gimmick and chances are the people selected aren't going to have anything to give back to the automotive community and don't share the passion that a select few do on this website. There's a reason SEMA is not open to the public -- it's for the industry leaders, those that truly have an impact on the automotive industry: those that design, build, and move the products to the community.
It'll still be entertaining to see how it plays out and how it benefits the ones that are footing the bill.
